Full of History
The British Shorthair breed —one of the most prominent cat breeds in the UK— is believed to have originated from Roman cats brought to Britain during the Roman invasion in 43 AD.
These cats became highly popular in Europe starting in the 1870s; however, their population declined drastically after World War II. By that time, the British shorthair breeders had stopped their breeding campaign that almost caused the extinction of the breed.
Today, the British Shorthair carries genetic heritage from the Russian Blue and Persian breeds.
Calm Nature Instinct

The British shorthair is known for their calm demeanor. They are super confident and emotionally balanced cats.
They enjoy companionship but not in a demanding way. Most of them will just stay close with you without overly sitting on your way. They usually follow you room to room and sit nearby while you relax.
