Confessions of a Fashion Cat: I Didn’t Choose Fashion. Fashion Chose Me — Giovanni

Hi! My name is Giovanni. I’m a three years old cat from Buenos Aires, Argentina. I live indoors and I take my daily responsibilities very seriously: testing toys, judging beds and making sure food arrives on time 🐾.

Somewhere along the way, my hoomans also decided I had style. That’s how I became a fashion cat. And yes, apparently also a catfluencer.
This was never part of my plan.
It started with one bandana that didn’t bother me much. You know… it didn’t interfere with my nap schedule or my snack breaks. It was soft, light and easy to ignore. Then came the photos. Then the comments. Then the followers. And after that, the quiet assumption that I’d be fine with whatever came next.
That’s often how cats end up in the catfluencer world: slowly, without a meeting, and definitely without signing anything.
What being a cat model actually means
People like to call me a cat model. I get it. I look good in front of the camera, I don’t mind attention and I’ve learned how to sit still when it really matters.

But being a cat model doesn’t mean saying yes to everything.
Cats are very clear when something isn’t working. If an accessory is too tight, I stop moving. If it covers my ears, I leave. If I freeze and stare into space, that’s not a pose. That’s discomfort.
A good cat stylist knows this. They don’t force the look. They read the signs and adapt to the cat 😼👑
What’s actually behind the look
Between outfits, I’m busy ruling my kingdom. My workday starts early, at breakfast time. I wake up before everyone else and meow loudly until my hoomans get out of bed. If it weren’t for me, they’d sleep forever. Very lazy creatures.

Besides that, I’m usually thinking about snacks, naps, and whether someone might open the cupboard where the good food is kept.
If I sit next to you, it’s on purpose. If I follow you from room to room, it’s curiosity and also because I want your company.
That’s normal cat behavior. The fashion part is just a hobby 😼.
The paw test
In my catfluencer world, everything gets approved by the paw test first 🐾.
Beds get kneaded. Toys get chased, bitten, and dragged across the floor.Accessories get inspected… carefully.

If I can walk, stretch, jump and get off the sofa without help, it passes. If I can’t, it doesn’t. This rule applies to fashion just like it does to everything else. For a fashion cat, comfort isn’t optional. It’s the starting point.
Why humans love fashion cats
I’ve noticed humans are drawn to fashion cats because we’re cute, expressive and a little opinionated. We look like we know what we like.. because, obviously, we do.
But even the most stylish cats are still just cats underneath the outfits. We follow routines. We care deeply about food schedules. We always choose the softest spot in the room.
Style doesn’t replace instincts. It never will.
Tips if you want to dress your cat
If you’re thinking about adding accessories to your cat’s look, start by watching them. If they move away, stop. If they relax and carry on as usual, you’re probably doing it right.

Good cat stylists understand limits. Good fashion cats are allowed to say no. You can offer me another bandana if you want. I might even wear it. Just let me decide whether it stays on. That’s how cats keep their boundaries. Even in fashion.
Before I go
If I could send one message, it would be this.
To hoomans: thank you for opening your homes and your hearts to us, and for letting us be part of your lives. We may not always show affection the way you expect, but we feel it deeply. We love spending time with our families. We just do it in our own way.

And to my fellow cats: keep being sweet, curious and unapologetically yourselves. Don’t forget to ask for your reward snack. More than once, if necessary.

Because behind every fashion cat, there’s still a cat doing things at their own pace — and letting you watch, if they feel like it 🐾💖
