🐈Dumpling: A Little Chinese Field Cat With a Big Personality

Last time, we shared the story of Jiaozi, an adorable cat with a name that means “dumpling.” This time, we’re introducing another little Dumpling with a completely different journey.

Dumpling is a six-month-old Chinese field cat (tiányuán māo, 田园猫) from Guizhou, China. Although he shares his name with another furry friend (Jiaozi), his personality and story are uniquely his own. His journey to finding a forever home started with a simple adoption post online. The moment his family saw him, they felt an instant connection and knew they were meant to meet. Without hesitation, they reached out and went to bring Dumpling home.

When Dumpling first arrived, he wasn’t in the best health and needed immediate medical care. During those early days, he showed his family just how special he was. While resting in his adopter’s arms, his tiny body curled up tightly as he gently licked their hand. That small moment created an unforgettable bond between them.

Today, Dumpling is a happy little cat full of curiosity and personality. His family describes him as smart, naughty, and adorable — and he certainly lives up to those words.

Dumpling has many favorite activities. He loves trying to scoop fish out of the fish tank, waiting by the front door for his family members to come home, and chasing after a cat teaser wand during playtime.

He also has a funny little habit that always makes his family smile. Dumpling loves putting his whole head into the gaps of the sofa. Maybe the soft fabric makes him feel warm and safe, but to everyone around him, it’s simply one of his cutest quirks.

When asked what Dumpling would say if he could talk, his answer would probably be:

“Why won’t you let me go out and play with those little fish?”
