The Beginning of Matt's Journey
Hi there! I'm Matt, a cat with a story to tell. My life started in a place many might not expect— a parking lot. It was a rough start, but thanks to the kindness of strangers and the love of my hooman, my story turned into a tale of resilience, and happiness.
From a Cry for Help to a Forever Home
In August 2018, my life changed forever. A French woman named Dani, living in the Philippines, heard my desperate cries for help in the parking lot of the Rockwell apartment complex in Makati City. Thin and in need of care, I was taken to a vet. Dani posted about me online, seeking someone who could give me a loving home. That's when my hooman, Ryan, stepped in. My original name was Matisse, after the French artist, but soon enough, I became Matt and found my forever home.
Matt's Life in a Nutshell
While my exact age is a bit of a mystery, estimates suggest I was around 7 months old when I was adopted. That makes me approximately 7-8 years old now. Age doesn't define me; it's the love and care I receive that keeps me youthful and vibrant.
I am often described as extremely adorable with expressive eyes that can melt any heart. I’m also quite vocal, especially when I'm hungry or craving affection. Warm keyboards are my favorite lounging spots, and I'm always curious about the other cats roaming the condo's corridors. I love peeking out the door to see what they’re up to.
My daily routine is simple yet fulfilling: sleep, eat, meow, repeat, and of course, poop! I get particularly excited when Ryan takes me out to meet other cat friends, where I indulge in hissing to my heart's content.
When it comes to food, freshly cooked chicken is my absolute favorite, though I also enjoy kibbles and churu. Playtime is any time, and I'm always up for some fun!
The Daily Battle with FIV and Asthma
I have Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV), a condition I had even before Ryan adopted me. Despite this, I lead a healthy and happy life with proper care. Occasionally, I make funny noises when breathing due to asthma. The vet suggested steroids, but Ryan decided against it to keep my immunity strong. Instead, I enjoy a nutritious diet of cooked chicken, pumpkin, and fish oils, which helps keep me in good health.
Inspiring Fellow Felines and Cat Pawrents
I aim to show that every cat, regardless of breed, can offer boundless love and affection. I advocate for adoption over shopping—every cat deserves a loving home like mine. Additionally, it’s crucial to neuter our furry friends to ensure their well-being and prevent overpopulation.
Final Thoughts from Matt
To all the cats and cat people out there, remember that love and proper care can turn any life around. From a parking lot rescue to a cherished pet, my journey is proof of that; and don't forget, neutering our furbabies is vital.
