What happens when a tiny, sick rescue kitten with a loud voice meets a college student with a huge heart? Rowdy Rooster, now a beloved cat pawrent companion, has just the answer. Born in Boone, NC and currently enjoying the summer in Raleigh, Rowdy’s journey from foster care to forever home is as full of sass as well as snuggles. In this exclusive interview, Rowdy Rooster shares his own tale, all inclusive of meows, mischief, and more.

🐾 From Foster to Forever: How I met Peyton
I actually live in Boone, NC with my favorite human, Peyton. But this summer, we're staying in Raleigh with her parents while she's on her college break.
My journey started at the Watauga Humane Society, where I was a tiny, sick two-month-old kitten battling feline herpes alongside my brother. Peyton took us both in as a foster mom. She gave us medicines, love, and lots of cuddles.
My brother eventually found his forever home, but I had already made up my mind that Peyton was mine. I never left, and that’s how I became a full-time family member.
🐓 Why they call me Rowdy Rooster

I earned my name rather plain and simplyst, with my early morning meows, dramatic flair, and loud expressive cat energy.
I was the loudest kitten in my litter, meowing at sunrise, running wild, and pouncing like a barnyard escapee.
Peyton called it ‘rooster energy,’ and honestly? I haven’t stopped living up to it. Life’s too short to stay quiet.

😼 Who am I? Just your local drama king (with a sweet heart!)
If you ask Peyton, she’ll tell you I’m sweet, sassy, and definitely a bit dramatic.
With a cat personality that’s both bold and cuddly, I’m practically an unofficial emotional support cat. I’m a lot like a class clown energy but I also take my job as neighborhood watch very seriously.
I demand attention, speak my mind (loudly), and keep everyone on their toes.
But I’ve got a soft side too: I’m a champion cuddler with a purr you can hear from across the room.
🌙 The night I knew Peyton was my person
Not long after Peyton adopted me, I had a rough night. I wasn’t feeling great, still recovering from my illness.
She noticed right away and stayed up with me, just petting me and talking in her gentle voice.
That night, curled up in her care, sealed our bond. I realized what being loved by a cat pawrent truly meant and I knew I had a safe, loving home for life.

🎯 My daily cat routine: windows, naps, and snacks
My cat routine? It kicks off with some serious window watching: birds, squirrels, you name it. Then I spend the day shadowing Peyton like the loyal assistant I am. Laundry? I'm there.
Cooking? I'm supervising. I take my cat naps seriously and rotate between a few favorite cozy spots around the house. When it comes to treats, I’m completely obsessed with freeze-dried chicken. And don’t even get me started on cat playtime! Give me feather toys or anything that crinkles, and I’m all in!

🐕🐈 Meet my Crew: Oliver & Martin
Oliver is Peyton’s parents’ cat, and he is more than a friend: he’s my cat companion and we’ve bonded since day one. We play, explore, nap, repeat.
And Martin, though technically is a dog, is the calmest, friendliest little creature you’ll ever meet.
Together we’re a purrfect example of a happy multi-pet household.
🌟 What I hope other cats and humans learn from me
As an indoor cat, I’ve learned that life inside is anything but boring. We can be loud, expressive, and just the right amount of mischievous.

Rescued cats like me can live big, joyful lives, filled with cat playtime, cozy naps, and deep bonds with our pawrents.
My message to humans? Adopt a cat, embrace their quirks, and remember: every rescued cat has a story worth loving and caring for.
💬 One last word from a cat who’s seen it all
Every cat deserves a safe, loving home and a hooman who truly understands them. We all have our quirks: some are quiet, others (like me!) are loud and full of energy. What makes the cat-human bond so special is the love found in everyday moments.
So, to all the future cat pawrents out there: visit your local cat rescue center, meet a shelter cat, and remember to adopt, not shop. Giving a rescue cat a forever home isn’t just kind. It’s life-changing for us both!
