Meet The Purrfect Ten: A Fun Bunch of Cats from Malaysia

This is a story about a family that decided to take care of a fluffy family. Based in Johor, Malaysia these kitties were accepted to their new home and lucky for all, under no circumstances could be separated!

Previgna and her family are taking care of 11 adorable cats, with one being more of a recent addition. They’ve always loved animals and had a lovely dog for nearly 12 years, who sadly passed in 2023. After her passing, cats began showing up at their house; initially to eat, then to play, and eventually to sleep. Slowly, they became a part of their lives. It started with one, then two, and one of them gave birth twice. They chose to adopt all of them as they refused to separate the cat family. Every day, the cats bring Previgna and her family joy, chaos, and comfort. Previgna’s mom treats them like her own grandkids and cares for them with so much love. Just this week, Previgna found a kitten on the street and brought her into the family as well. 

Animals are living beings who deserve the same love and care and respect as any human and Previgna is doing her best to give them all that she can. For her, they are not just pets, they are family!

The cats in Previgna’s big cat family have some unique and interesting names. 

Jjgae: meaning stew in Korean

Abhi: a Hindu deity 

Asifa: Previgna’s boyfriend’s name with a twist

Bhartra: a name after the Hindu deity Bhatrakali

Tara: a Hindu deity’s name and the word for star in Hindi

Yeppuda: meaning pretty in Korean

Kiter: a furry friend with a moustache on her lips

Socks: a tuxedo with mittens

Comot: meaning messy in Malay because of messy fur

Matangi: a Hindu deity’s name

Maneki: the Japanese cat for good luck

The great thing about the cats is the way they are so expressive with their facial expressions and actions. Whether it is them being tired of their humans or their odd sleeping styles, they bring so much joy!

The Beginning

In the beginning it was just two cats and Previgna's family was just starting to learn about how to take care of cats. When one of the cats was pregnant and gave birth the first time, Previgna's family was overwhelmed, but decided to take it slow and care for them. Then the second pregnancy happened. It was a lot for Previgna's family financially and mentally and they even considered putting the kitties up for adoption. 

However Previgna’s mom didn’t have the heart to separate anyone, which is why they decided to adopt and take care of all of them regardless of it being difficult. They are all  family after all. 

Recently, they found another fur baby on the street and decided to take her in too. 

Sometimes it does get a lot, but they are beings as well, so Previgna's family does the best they can to make sure kitties are well taken care of by any means.

There were a few struggles and difficulties, which Previgna's family was able to overcome when they saw how cats were living their best life!

Free Time with the Furballs

Cats are known for their love for climbing and hiding in all kinds of places. They love parent’s bed the most and spend most of their afternoons sleeping there. Sometimes they lay down on the cupboards, the fridge, even the dining table has become their sleeping spot. 

For some reason the cats love to sleep inside laundry baskets too, every opportunity they get, they jump inside it and take a long nap!
