Püskül's Point of View: Humans Are So Strange!

Meowww!

I’m Püskül and I’m a cat from Istanbul, Turkey, with the sparkle and brilliance of jewelry, and the rich aroma of kebabs. I am an influencer on Instagram, the social media platform of humans. Like most other cats, I live with my mom, Idil, my human and an odd being with a different lifestyle from mine.

Sleeping - Cats are masters, humans are aliens!

Do you think humans sleep too little? They only sleep 6-8 hours and think that is enough. After waking up, they are always full of energy and can do everything. How could it be? I sleep for around 14-16 hours a day, only waking up when feeling hungry, and I still feel like I could sleep more.

If napping is an art, I am proud to be called an artist.

But sometimes, I notice something funny: Their sleeping position is just like mine!

My favourite sleeping position is the shrimp curl, with my paws tucked, legs pulled in, and tail tightly wound. I often fall asleep touching my Meowmy, or wrapped around her warm belly like a furry scarf.

But I have had times where I simply watch Idil. Sometimes, she lies on her back, belly up, just like when I’m relaxed and letting my guard down. Other times, she curls up on her side, knees up, exactly like me. A human shrimp!

Food - A rather odd menu!

I love chewing on duck sticks. I adore chicken and snacks of every flavour. But when I catch a bug and bring it to Meowmy as a present, she just thanks me and refuses to eat it. I don’t understand. After all, these are gifts from my heart…

Humans eat food that is cooked, seasoned, and sometimes greasy. They can still drink milk and caffeine, but they always forbid me from eating those things.

Bathing - What a nightmare for us!

I clean myself every day, carefully, from my ears to my tail. I hate getting wet, but I still can handle it. Meowmy washes my fur for me, she says its her way of keeping my fur coat white. But I prefer to clean my fur to restore my proper scent!

How can humans bathe every day? They pour water on their heads and scrub with soap! It seems like a nightmare to be water-resistant every day!

Territory - What’s mine is mine!

We cats usually have our own boundaries, where other cats are not allowed to enter. The pillow in my Idil’s bed, the tree shade in the sun, all of these things are mine!

However, my Meowmy is different; sometimes she brings friends home to play, and they are even allowed to sleep on her bed. How are they able to share everything?

Humans talk too much, but I accept these noisy!

I do not throw myself at strangers. I'm wary and don't let them pet me. But I love the people I know. I love being caressed, and if I haven't been pet in a while, I'll meow for it. I like to have my chin, cheeks, armpits scratched, my head rubbed, and my whole body rubbed. I also know when my mom is sad and will come to comfort her.

My meowmy pets lots of cats, including my big brother (my meowmy’s parents’ cat) Şimşek, my cousin (my meowmy’s sister’s cat) Tosun, and several street cats, so I’m used to smelling other cats on her. I don’t get jealous when meowmy pets or hugs other cats in front of me. In the end, I know my meowmy loves me the most!
